Namibia Gap Year Advice

Filed Under (Blogging) by James on 08-05-2010

Namibia Gap Year Projects are amoungst some of the finest in Africa. If you are considering taking a Namibia Gap Year , then you would be right to expect plenty of worthy wildlife conservation programmes,  and incredible adventures set ammounst some of the finest vistas in the whole of Africa. In fact a Namibia Gap Year is probably one of the most satisfying gap year destinations on the planet.
So you are checking through the brochures, trying to figure out what to do there, well the main draw for people considering a Namibia Gap Year has to be the excellent wildlife conservation projects out there. Many of which look after big predators like cheetahs.

There are many natural tourist sites that you can check out on a Namibia Gap Year, probably the biggest is the fish river Canyon, this as the name suggests is a huge natural spectacle,a real gap in the landscape that rips through the land for 99kms and is nearly 20 Kms wide. The scenery , witnessed from inside the park will leave the most discerning traveller satisfied. Then there is the Skeleton coast, named after the bleached whales skeletons littering the coast during the wailing times, and the rusting remains of unfortunate ships that were lost at sea.

If you are looking for impressive wide angle shots, be sure to check out the great escarpment on your Namibia Gap Year. This is a a natural phenomenon, that rises really dramatically out of the Bush veld and lifts up over 2Ks. A really cool site to behold, just bring a wide angle lense for your camera.

Namibia is beautiful, there is no doubt, but also it is a massive and unforgiving country with a harsh environment. If you are definitely in the mood to explore on your Namibia Gap Year then you would do well to get on to an overlanding truck tour. This has the advantage of taking all the hassle of the logistics out of the way and gets you into an incredible , normally inaccessible environment.
Namibia, is a huge producer of Diamonds. With one part of the country being named after the gems, – the Diamond coast, Namibia, is a pretty big player when it comes to buying shiny gems to pop the question. Namibia did not always have it so easy however, as they really had to fight for independence (against the apheid government in South Africa.) Eventually gaining independence in 1990. (Shortly afterwards they discovered even ritcher diamond deposits and have been laughing ever since).

Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appeal. I must say you have done a superb job with this. Also, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Chrome. Excellent Blog!
