In order to generate more traffic to your site, it is important that you understand how article marketing works. Although you might not be able to go back to school to earn a marketing degree, do not sell your self short because of this. Start learning now and use these tips to your advantage.
Write attention grabbing headlines, but leave out the hype. Using a title that tries to promise something you can’t possibly deliver will make readers distrust everything you say. Make sure the information adds something to the article, and put in a number if you can, like “The Top 5 Ways of…” This is so readers know exactly what you are giving them.
Controversy sells, so don’t be afraid to use it to hook in readers. The effectiveness of this can be seen easily in mass media. Try to write articles on topics that generate a lot of strong opinions and discussions like sports, or politics. This will get people talking about your article and spreading the word.
Don’t publish overly exposed articles on your site. Article marketing is meant to help your business pop amidst other similar businesses. By choosing to post articles that have been heavily distributed already, you may be unwittingly increasing your number of competitors. Write or choose an original article containing information which is not available anywhere else.
Don’t place your focus on just a couple different article directories. Instead, submit each article to many different directories. The more directories you submit to, the more backlinks and exposure you will receive.
It is best to keep your articles at 500 words or less, and use an attention getting introduction. Some readers have tiny attention spans so you need to get to the point quickly. You can always expand on the on the attention grabbing facts later in the article, so be sure to put your eye catching sentences in the first few lines.
Now you should have the knowledge you need to be successful. Try different marketing approaches to see what fits best with your own unique style and the needs of your readers.
